6/27/06: Managed to paint something during the recent heat-wave (I don't know how! - I was so restless):
Another Dark Sword piece: An Amazon from Elmore Masterworks #4.
6/23/06: Here are pictures of the Pirate Queen's Assistant.
I've also taken a group shot.
6/22/06: I finally got 'round to painting a freebooter miniature - it's silly, I've been crazy about the
models since before you could get them in the states - but someone finally commissioned me to paint
the Pirate Queen, so here we are! Her little assisstant will be added here
soon
6/17/06: A couple of Reaper Warlord miniatures today - Mother Superior
Kristianna & her Squire, for the crusaders faction.
6/02/06: Last of my DSM figures for a while - the Female Mage from
Elmore #8. She's painted more like a druid than a mage..
5/31/06: Another DSM today! It's the other half of "The Power &
The Protector."
5/25/06: I have another model for Dark Sword Miniatures today - The Power
part of "The Power & The Protector" by Larry Elmore. I'm working on the protector, so she'll be up soon.
5/21/06: I can finally share something I did about a month ago for Dark Sword Miniatures - a 54mm piece
based on Larry Elmore's "Journey to a Gathering" artwork, sculpted by Dave Summers. It was originally produced by
Ral Partha miniatures, but Dark Sword Miniatures now has it, and I think will be releasing it.. eventually. I learned
alot from painting this one - especially that 54mm sets take alot longer than single 28mm pieces (big duh, I know)!
Here's a link.
5/17/06: Meh! I have had a nasty cold lately and my painting has suffered for it. Anyway, I'm on the mend and
here's a new miniature: the advancing elf from
Dark Sword Miniature's upcoming Elmore Masterworks #8 boxed set!
5/7/06: I have a new reaper model - Sister Kendra - to share today. She was a
challenging model for me overall, and she has her good and bad points. I'm just glad to be finished..
4/29/06: Another model for Crunch Waffle Miniatures - a female half orc.
4/28/06: I painted the Privateer Press HORDES! Circle Warlock - Kaya Wildborne for the
first round of the "Iron Painter" competition at Wyrd Miniatures - the "key ingredient" was metallic paint..
4/25/06: I've added a miniature I painted for Crunch Waffle Miniatures -
a very cute island goblin and his dinner.
4/15/06: I finished a "quick" Hasslefree girl,
Acenith, though it turned out not to be as quick as I'd hoped. Still, finished it in
time for Sunday auction this week! horray!
4/11/06: I finally finished The Druid Stone based on Keith Parkinson's artwork
and produced by Reaper. It's a lovely little diorama, but sadly out of print. I tried to stay as true to the original
artwork as I could manage.
4/06/06: I got the opportunity to paint the 2006 Elmore Amazon for Jim
over at Dark Sword Miniatures - and how could I refuse? It is a
great piece, and it makes me even sadder that Dennis Mize is no longer alive to create such beauty.
4/06/06: I have edited & updated the dark flesh tutorial with pictures from Akanke's
progress, which are luckily less fuzzy, at the very least, than the original dark flesh tutorial. Questions or comments
are gladly received at jubilant_creations@hotmail.com.
3/28/06: I finally put the finishing touches on the second version of the
Male Vrykyl from Dark Sword Miniatures. He's a little more sinister this time around.. :)
3/15/06: Two updates in one day! I finished a model from Dark Sword Miniatures Elmore Masterworks #2,
"Shrouded Realms", yesterday and got it top coated/pictured today.
3/15/06: Now that the voting for the contest over at Wyrd Miniatures
is finished, I can share some of my latest paint jobs: Alastriel,
2004 Sophie, and Akanke. Akanke took 2nd place in the Simply
Scandalous category. Both Sophie & Alastriel were virutally ignored in the glut of miniatures in the fantasy category
(I had attempted to place Sophie in the Alternative category, but she was moved before by the contest administrators).
Akanke will also eventually replace my dark skin tutorial, since the current pictures are so poor.
3/02/06: Today I have a Privateer Press Iron Kingdoms mini to share: Valeria Alvaro, Ordic
Pistoleer. She's been sitting on my workbench for a while, and she'll be going up for ebay auction on 3/5.
2/25/06: No new minis I can share today, but I made some changes to the miniatures gallery to put some of the bigger
blocks of pictures on their own page - will hopefully speed up loading a bit!
2/11/06: Finally finished the last of the Elmore #7 box set! Horray! It's the
Male Vrykyl.
2/08/06: Fifth of my six commissions pictured today. The Female Vrykyl, but
don't ask me what a Vrykyl is. All I know is they must be some kind of elf - they've got pointy ears. I also added
a shield decal to Avalyne the Lifebgiver and took new, improved pictures to boot.
1/31/06: Fourth of my six commissions finished today - well, almost finished. I want to add a decal to
the shield, but I'm waiting for it to arrive: Avalyne the Lifegiver.
1/26/06: One more commission miniature today, again from Elmore Masterworks #7. It's my version of
"Waiting for Shadamehr."
1/19/06: Happy Birthday to me!! New miniature today: another commission from the Elmore Masterworks #7,
"Close Combat."
1/18/06: Finally added the tanned flesh tutorial I wrote around November to my
tutorials page. Also, I added a banner for Ginfritter's Gnomish Workshop
to my links page today.
1/17/06: I have another commission piece to show today - from the Elmore Masterowks #7, a female mage.
I'm very pleased with how she turned out! ;) I think I got the blond hair alot more realistic than on the last one..
1/12/06: Two Paranoia miniatures for my brother - both late Christmas presents - a
female troubleshooter and a "holy" troubleshooter
1/05/06: Another couple of commissions, this time a female assassin, a
ghoullish rocker, and a warrior woman. Also, a paranoia figure I painted
for my brother for Christmas.
12/19/05: Three models today, all commission pieces for Shadowrun models: a female cop,
a half-orc assassin, and a cyber-ninja assassin. I'm having
trouble with the gloss showing through on the top coat in places on all three - very annoying! 2 layers of spray-on matter
and one layer of brush-on should take care of such things, but alas, not today..
12/11/05: A model I painted for a painting tutorial for the folks over at
Ordo Fanaticus today: Laurana from Reaper.
12/06/05: Got some pictures of my GenCon Trophy with a dark background
so the trophy is actually visible. :)
12/05/05: Commission piece finished today - someone requested the Hasslefree
Nubian with Shield & Assegai painted in the same scheme as the one before. This version seems to be a bit camera shy,
but after about 50 pictures, I managed to get some good ones. Still can't make the shield stop looking on the neon side,
though. Sigh..
11/21/05: I'm back from GenCon SoCal and have a bunch of pictures from the last month to share. First off, I want
to share my first place winning entry at GenCon SoCal's
single figure painting contest,
"Puna Deelena" from Dark Sword Miniatures' Parkinson Masterworks Set #2. I'm so excited and still a bit in shock about winning!! Next, I have my second entry,
"GlenRaven", also a DSM, from the Caldwell Masterworks. She didn't place, but
I am very proud of her.
I also have four models I painted for the Halloween paingint contest at
Wyrd Miniatures . From Reaper, the Hound of Judgement,
Baby 'Thulu, and an evil monkey. The other is a Rackham
Familiar of Darkness. I didn't do very well in that contest, although I did win a
random schmuck prize for entering & commenting - and free miniatures is what it's really all about. ;)
In other GenCon News, I won 3rd place in the overall speed painting contest (took me 3 speed painting sessions to
qualify!), and came away from GenCon with far too much new metal :). I hope to get some of it painted before Christmas,
but it's a slim chance.
11/08/05: Another basti today, a second champion.
11/04/05: Two basti kitties today, both masters of words: v2 &
v3. I'm never painting one of these again..:)
10/27/05: My basti girl kitty auctions went so well that I am painting more for another bidder! Here's the
second version of the Priestess.
10/26/05: Finally, something I can share! Another lovely Hasslefree Nubian.
10/26/05: I have been painting away all month, but most of it has been for painting contests - I'm still
trying to decide what to take for GenCon SoCal, so I can't show anything until I've decided.. :) However, I finished
up a short tutorial on dark flesh using another Hasslefree nubian. It can be found on my handy-dandy new "tutorials" link
on the menu to the left, along with a page on commissions & a link to my ebay auctions. Cool, huh? ;) I think I have
the menu working everywhere correctly, but I'd appreciate an email with a link to the page in question if anyone
stumbles across a broken one - jubilant_creations@hotmail.com
10/13/05: Two new models today: Rose, a halfling from Ral Partha, and
probably the last of my tawny-fleshed basti, the female champion. I may in the future
paint the rest of the male characters in the same flesh, but for now I've got the color out of my system and
am more than ready to move on to something else!
10/6/05: I've been working on a nubian from
Hasslefree Miniatures off on and since last week, and
I finally sat down and finished her up. Didn't take too long once I got focused. I've been buying a fair bit
of Hasslefree for a while but have actually managed to finish painting a model - I have started and stripped
a couple. It's a nice feeling to finally finish one!
10/5/05: Croc Tuesday was mildly successful.. I actually finished the Female Basti
Harbinger on Wednesday, 'cause I did the cloak seperately and had some troubles with it. Also, this one was
a little more "fiddly" than the other two, so there was more to do.. =(. I am not as happy with her as the others,
and I'm definately leaving the cloak off on the next one.
10/3/05: Another Croc Mini - this time not on Tuesday! I started this one last week and finished
her up during the weekend. I'm quite pleased with most of it, although I think the staff is a little
christmasy - Female Basti Master of Words.
9/28/05: Croc Tuesday was very successful this week. I got the new female kitties release last week
and was excited to paint one - a basti priestess. She matches the master
of words, but she has a cute little pink nose.. he he he. I also put my first
ebay auction up today -
Rictur Diehn from Reaper. Hopefully, I'll get something up each week for
at least the next month or so.
9/23/05: Going to try a new "Croc Tuesday" painting goal for myself - one mini every Tuesday, and
for now I'll be painting Crocodile Games Wargods Minis. This week's Master of Words
took about 2 days - 3 if you count the base work and top coating on Thursday (I don't). Hopefully, I'll be
faster next week.. ;) The other model I finished this week is a Paranoia Fig from
Mongoose publishing for my brother.
9/15/05: Getting back into the swing of things again. Got two new models today. The first is a
Repaer, Taryn, Spearmaiden, something I've tried to paint a couple of times now, so
I'm glad to be done with it. The other is a second version of the IWM Female
Shadowrunner - this one painted for a friend who liked the one I did for a client so well that he wanted
me to paint his in the same color scheme. I improved on the base, and toned down the eyeshadow & blush a bit, but
otherwise she looks remarkably similar (especially remarkable considering it's been a couple of months - either I'm
just that good, or I'm not getting better!!). I was also feeling very purple this week, it seems. I'm going
to try some different colors next week!
9/09/05: Bleh.. Been too long since I finished something! I can finally put up the picture of my Fall
Reaper Mini Exchange figure - a Gnoll Marauder. Fun to paint - turned out nice, I think.
8/25/05: Two minis I painted for the Fozzbozz Maidenhead painting
contest: A musician and a commander. Alas,
I didn't win, but I'd been wanting to try out the minis from Maidenhead, so it was a good experience anyway. I also
recently obtained a newer version of Photoshop and was able to improve many of the pictures in my minis gallery with
the auto-contrast feature.
8/8/05: Another mini from over the weekend: the Dryad from Reaper's Mossbeard the
Treeman box set. I'm using it as a figure for an RPG and wanted to experiment with some
new fleshy paint.
8/5/05: Back from vacation with two new miniatures and one old miniature to share!
My brother asked for the first two for a couple of his friends. The third miniature was
part of that comission from June & July that I entered in the
Wyrd Games Total Testosterone mini-painting contest. Now that the contest is over, I'm allowed
to put him up! I took 2nd place in the Sci-Fi category. :) ;)
7/8/05: New offerings today! Several comission pieces from last week that I had to
get shipped out today, so finally got pictures taken:
6/26/05: New pics of Cyann today. Much better
than the olds ones, imo.
6/25/05: Finished part of a comission and thought I'd share. It's a
Shadow Runner from Ral Partha/IronWind Metals Shadowrun. I
have no idea what one of those is. :)
6/17/05: Been another month, but this time I have several new things to show
for my recent quietness! I quit my job at the end of May and am trying to paint full
time. Hopefully I will get some minis up on ebay soon. Today I have another Siren I
painted around the end of May, and 5 Corporate Gun Babes from Copplestone,
who look absolutely fabulous as Nick Michaels' entourage.
5/26/05: Okay, so the whole mini-a-week thing failed after only 2 months, but
I've been working on this trophy (and I changed what I was
going to do for it half way through!). At least I finished it on time.. ;)
4/15/05: Well.. almost a mini a week so far. Maybe a mini a week-and-a-half..;)
today's offerings are three - A bad fairy,
a ranger from reaper, and a sci-fi mini
from Warzone. Still struggling with pictures...
3/16/05: Been a while again.. Several things to add here: I put flowers on
the wood elf lady's base, and finally got around to taking pics. I finished the
Amazon Fighter-Mage from IronWind Metals sometime in February and finally got
pictures taken. Last week I finished Cyann Kira-Moura from Warcrow Miniatures and
after a couple of tries, I got some good-enough pics of her. Finally, I just finished
the Arcana Unearthed Female Human Unfettered (whatever that is!), and got pics.
Last week I made a decision that I will do my best to finish one miniature (at least)
each week. I don't know if I will get pics up on a weekly basis--probably will batch
them like I did these, because all the photo-ing, loading, and prepping takes so much time..
1/24/05: Painted up another exquisite Thunderbolt Mountain mini--this time the
wood elf lady.
1/10/05: Two new minis today! One for a friend for Christmas and a
second Reaper Winter Exchange mini. Both are reaper minis and some of my better work lately, I think.
12/28/04: Horray! Busy Bee Am I! I painted a new mini with the paints my
husband gave me for christmas. Reaper Master Series--very nice. The mini is an updated
version for Pakkin for one of our RPG's.
12/26/04: Managed to finish the mini-christmas present for my sister on
time (barely). I even managed to get some (bad) pictures of it!
12/11/04: Painted another miniature this week! Something from the Iron
Kingdoms roleplaying game from Privateer Press.
12/05/04: It's been a long time! My web server dumped my page not long after my
last update, and I decided before putting it back up under my new dialup address, that I'd
clean things up. Then, one thing lead to another, and I got married, and I haven't gotten
around to getting it up until now. I've added a bunch of new things to the Miniatures
page, all the stuff I've been painting in the last 7 months..
5/10/04: Another mini finished today: Inge, Sorceress from
Spyglass miniatures. She's representing an rpg character my fiancee is playing. Usually he
paints his own, but I liked this model so well that I wanted to paint it for him. :)
5/9/04: It's been a while since I've done an update. I put up a few minis
I've been working on lately: Reaper's Dancing Girl,
Celtos's Arianrod, Sidhe Spearmaiden, and
'The Kiss', a diaroma I made for my fiancee and possibly for our wedding cake top. The
spearmaid and the dancing girl were both done to sell on ebay and have since sold.
4/05/04: New model: Snotling Pixie. New
pictures also up of Shae, the Frost Witch Elf,
and the Frost Elf Banner Bearer. Enjoy!
4/03/04: Well, I made it through catching mono from my fiancee, finals, and a week
in Canada in one piece and with my painting skills still in tact! :) I decided to do something
simple to get back into the swing of things so I present Shae from
Spyglass Miniatures. Lovely model. I'm thinking of selling her on ebay, since I didn't paint
her to represent any particular character and have no real emotional ties to her, except that
I think I did a good job! ;)
3/07/04: I finished painting up a converted Harbinger of the Fallen
last night and got her pictures up today. I'm pleased with her, overall, although the photos
could probably be better.. She's going to be the army standard bearer for my warhammer fantasy
dark/Frost Elf army. :) Enjoy!
3/02/04: Posted some pictures of some ral partha models I painted waaay back in
1996--the very first time I'd painted anything. I retired after my first 5 or 6 models and
didn't pick up a brush or paint again until last year. :) I plan to, someday soon, strip
them and repaint them, so I can do comparison shots to see how (if!) I've improved.. :)
3/01/04: Black Raven Foundry orc and skeleton heroes today. Whee.
2/24/04: Finished and added a beast master for my frost
elfie army. She's a cutie, if I may say so myself. :) I got her along with a hydra from my
fiancee for valentine's day--talk about romantic, eh? ;) It'll probably be a while yet before
I paint the hydra--haven't figured out a good color scheme yet.
2/20/04: Added those BRF orcs. Whee. :)
2/19/04: I finished painting another witch elf for my
frost elves' army yesterday. I am really happy with the paint scheme this time and am probably
going to stick with it. I will probably vary a little bit the colors between kinds of troops.. I
also finished some more black raven foundry orcs and I will post pictures as soon as I get around
to taking some! Being sick really frees up time for painting... :)
2/17/04: I am such a little busy bee! I added the picture of my harpy
conversion in the minis section. I am very pleased with how she turnd out! I also started noting the date
that I had posted an image on the site..
2/12/04: Added two miniatures to the minis page today. One is another version of an rpg
character, (model now missing), that I painted back in December.
section. The second is a reaper model, slightly modified, for a Mystery Men campaign I joined
last weekend.
2/07/04: Another update! The world must be ending. ;) Today I took some new pictures
of my Harbinger of the Fallen with a different background (Pictures removed as model has been stripped).
I think it gives a more accurate
picture of how the model looks in person. I also took pictures of two work in progress models
from back in November--they are also for the warhammer fantasy army I'm building and were
painted as tests for color schemes. Once I finally decide, they will have to be stripped and
painted the "official" scheme. Lastly, I got some decent photos of the latest batch of black
raven foundry minis for my comission--some more orcs, this time including some vaguely pinkish
ones. I know, what was I thinking? :)
2/05/04: Wow! Two days in a row! Today I added Harbinger of the Fallen (Pictures Removed).
I only started her yesterday, so she only took a few hours of
work. Amazing! She's not quite complete, though.. haven't finished her base yet. But she's
pretty close. :) I also have pictures of more 15mm orcs, but I probably won't get those up for
a few days.
2/04/04: I know, I know.. I'm horrible at this whole webpage updating thing. I added
a bunch more miniature pictures to the miniature section. A few of the photos are horrible but
the rest are okay. The minis I posted were all painted in November and December of last year,
and it's taken me this long to get around to putting them up! The majority of them are the
15mm black raven foundry stuff I've been doing on comission. Enjoy!
11/20/03: I actually got paid to paint something! I've put part of the work for the
commission up in the mini section, all of them are from black raven foundry (15mm). I just started
painting in that scale and it's lots of fun. Also updated the gallery with two minis from
warhammer fantasy that I had painted in September and never posted. Lastly, I painted a small
goblin from Foundry and he's in the mini section as well. I'm going to try to remember to update
this news section when I do something new. We'll see. :)
