This miniature was sculpted by Steve Buddle for the CoolMiniorNot Painting Contest #2. I got my miniature way back in June, and the contest deadline wasn't until September 15th, so of course I put it off until the last minute! It was harrowing for a while, because I couldn't decide what to do and had to start over a couple times before landing on something I liked. Since alot of the other people participating have much, much better technique than I do, I decided to go with something relatively unique. For some reason, you don't see many sea-elves floating around.

With this in mind, I deicided that Suli deserved to have a half sister. The amazon came originally with a spear, so I changed it into a trident to fit my new theme. The image on her shield is SUPPOSED to be a styalized cresting wave, because Umberlee's (A god in the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting) symbol is of two waves cresting. There wasn't really room on the shield for me to successfully make two, so she got one.

I think the skin on Ariencir turned out much better than it did on Suli's, mostly because I used a different paint for the shadows and a new technique for painting skin tones this time around. Suli's shadow color is actually a little purplish and it was extremely hard to get it to fade into the blue correctly. Ariencir's color, Prussian Blue, matched much better.

I tried to put some directional highlighting on her. It's supposed to be coming from the left side of her picture. I'm not sure how successfully it showed up in the picture--the orange in particular seems to have mostly blended together. Oh well.

If I had planned better, I might have done something more exciting with her base. I'd like to put her in a bigger scene, on the coast, but I simply didn't have the necessary tools and materials to do something like that. The future, maybe.
