I painted this one for Reaper and it represents several experiemnts and firsts for me on this model - one of my biggest
green-stuff bases so far. The Necromancer and her book are separate pieces and both have a sculpted stone floor as an
integral base. I painted them separately and then attached them to their bases (she's on a 25mm base that's been cut
roughly in half), then extended the stone bases with greenstuff.
The cloak is a mix of metallics and regular paint (I mixed a bluey-purple with pearl white and then added more pearl white until
it's almost purely pearl white for the final highlights. I went back and did some shadowing with red liner after it was finished, too).
This was the first time I'd tried a "demi-metallic" approach, and I like it.
Originally, the whole tome's base was bright green like the faces, but it was
too overpowering, so I changed it so only the faces were green and tried to give
the impression that they're shedding light on the stone base around them. I'm
not totally happy with the effect, but it does look much better than the original.
The blood drips are made from woodland scenics water effects mixed with some RMS carnage red. I had thought about attaching
a longer drip of blood to the dagger, but I decided that would look really silly, and went with something that seemed more realistic.
It also serves as a handy way to hide my mediocre NMM on the blade.. ;)
My camera continues to defy me and I had alot of trouble getting pictures both in focus and with the correct color balance.
