A Thousand Deaths

What calls me back
When I am determined to leave?
Why do I come blindly back,
expecting things will change?
Why do you punish me?
What joy does it give?
Every time I see your face
(if only in my mind),
Every time someone says your name
Or I imagine your voice,
I cringe.
Last time we spoke,
I wanted to die.
Do you feel the same?
Can I torture you too?
I want to hurt you,
To get revenge for the things you've done.
I want to make you pay,
For the tears, the hurt, the doubts
You've embedded deep within.
If my words could kill,
I'd write you a thousand deaths,
Each more painful than the last.
If looks could kill,
I would be unafraid to stare,
and stare and stare
until none of you was left.
